Future Forward: Meet a Fort Smith Planner

Meet Victoria Walls, a city planner for Fort Smith

Victoria Walls is a Senior Planner for the City of Fort Smith, a place she has called home her entire life. She attended Fort Smith Public Schools before going on to earn her degree from the University of Arkansas Fort Smith, and later pursued graduate studies at Arkansas State University. With four years in planning under her belt, Victoria brings a grounded, community-rooted perspective to her work.

Victoria first joined the City working in business licensing, where she developed an understanding of how development actually functions at the ground level. That hands-on experience with the day-to-day mechanics of city operations shaped how she approaches planning today.

What is one thing you would like to see happen in Fort Smith in the next 20 years?

"I believe in the potential of our downtown to become a hub of growth, connection, and activity. I want to see continued development, new businesses opening their doors, and events that draw people in and create a sense of community. Downtown should be a place people are excited to visit, invest in, and be a part of.”
